White Fused Aluminum Oxide (WFA)

  • White Aluminum Oxide
  • White Fused Aluminum Oxide is widely used as a raw material in refractories, ceramics shapes, grinding wheels, sandpaper, blasting media, metal preparation, laminates, coatings, lapping, polishing, grinding and hundreds of other applications. White Fused Alumina grains and powders are available in standard grit and powder sizes and they can also be made to individual specifications.

White Aluminum Oxide is a high purity abrasive electrically fused from Bayer processed alumina. This material is classified to exacting standards for various applications where higher purity levels and reduced iron content are required.

    Applications

White Fused Alumina is designed for general industrial use in operations such as lapping, polishing, refractory coating for investment cast shells, decorative non-skid tile, and pressure blasting. It is used where a high purity and/or highly friable abrasive is desired.

Brown Fused Aluminum Oxide (BFA)

  • Brown Aluminum Oxide
  • Brown Fused Aluminum Oxide is made into many shapes and grit sizes ranging from macrogrits to microgrits and powders. Brown fused aluminum oxide is a tough, hard material (Mohs hardness 9) with high strength, excellent wear and corrosion resistance and good thermal conductivity. Fused alumina is widely used as a raw material in refractories, ceramics shapes, grinding wheels, sandpaper, blasting media, metal preparation, laminates, coatings, lapping, polishing, grinding and hundreds of other applications. Washington Mills’ brown fused alumina grains and powders are available in standard grit and powder sizes and they can also be made to individual specifications. Please see below for information about some of our fused aluminum oxide materials.

    Applications

Brown Fused Alumina is suitable for wet or dry surface preparation, cleaning, deburring and cutting of various metals, ceramics, glass, wood, rubber, plastic, stone and composite materials.
